- FEATURES
- THE LABEL MAKER has the following features:
- 1. Automatically reads and prints all file names.
- 2. Handles sub-directories.
- 3. Allows entry of a disk name.
- 4. Allows either 4 or 8 lines of comments depending on which version you
- are running.
- 5. Prints on 3 1/2" x 15/16" or 4" x 1 7/16" labels.
- 6. Prints 1 to 4 labels as necessary.
-
- THE LABEL MAKER works best on an IBM or Epson dot matrix printer but will work
- on any printer capable of enlarged and compressed print mode. Source is
- provided to allow it to be customized for other printers.
-
- INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING THE DISKETTE FOR USE
- Before using the LABEL MAKER, a back-up diskette must be created. This will
- become the working diskette. The master dikette contains initialized data
- files and is only used to create working copies. Any other use of the master
- diskette should be avoided.
-
- The first step is to create a blank diskette formatted with DOS 2.0 system
- files. Put the DOS diskette into drive A and a new diskette into drive B.
- Type:
- A>format b:/s [Enter]
-
- Now using the copy command, copy BASICA.COM onto the disk you just formatted.
- Remove the DOS diskette from drive A and put it away in a safe place. Place
- the distribution diskette into drive A and be sure the newly formatted system
- diskette is still in drive B. Type:
-
- A>copy *.* b: [Enter]
-
- When the copy operation has finished, remove the LABEL MAKER master diskette
- from drive A and put it away in a safe place. The disk just created is your
- working copy of the LABEL MAKER program. Remove this diskette from drive
- B and place it in drive A.
-
- USING THE LABEL MAKER
-
- The working disk you have just created contains the LABEL MAKER programs and
- data files and runs in the default drive. As the diskettes are read, the data
- is written to the files on the program diskette in the default drive,
- therefore, the program diskette must not be write protected and should never be
- removed from the default drive while the program is running.
-
- Place the program disk you just created into the default drive and if the
- computer is turned off, turn it on. When the prompt comes up, type:
-
- A>LBL [d:]
-
- where d: is the disk designation of the drive you want to use for labeling
- the disks.
-
- After each label is written, the program will return to the prompt of the
- default disk and the next disk is then inserted into the working disk and the
- program is restarted.
